  • ■ Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.
    ■ Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.
    ■ Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense.
    ■ Regularly learn and play new sports.

Honey Badger at work at CrossFit Inland Empire!

For those of you whom are familiar with our very own Honey Badger, Michelle Kasten, She had the opportunity to go spend the day at CrossFit Inland Empire with CrossFit Games Athlete Katie Hogan.  It was a special day filled with dicsussion, personal attention and realizations for many people.  AND of course, there was a little WOD:

Here is what Michelle said when she posted this on her facebook page: 

 

This was our wod we did yesterday with Katie and all of the 40-50 girls that showed up to "Being Bad Ass with Kaite Hogan" at Inland Empire CrossFit. We were supposed to be teams of 5 but somehow I was on a kick ass team of 3 along with Karlie & Renee!! We finished first in our heat and only Katie's team had a faster score than us! Even though it was just for fun it was amazing to "compete" with so many awesome athletes of all ages & abilities. If you ever have the opportunity to participate in an event like this, I highly recommend you jump on it!!
What she DOESN'T say in this blurb is how awesome of a job SHE did... Not only did she kick ASS in the team wod, she personally had an AMAZING pr of 18 handstand Push-ups in a row.  Talk about a sweet deal!!!  Way to represent and push as hard as we all know you can Michelle.  We always knew the upside down position made you think better!

Michelle Knocks out some HSPU at CrossFit Inland Empire

From the FTF perspective, we are SUPER proud of Michelle for getting out of her comfort zone, travelling all the way to a new box and having a blast and experiencing what the CrossFit Community is all about.  Michelle, you are a representation of what we at FTF are all about.  We appreciate all that you do for our affiliate and how hard you work.  You are a pillar in our community and very proud of you!! 
If you need or want to talk to anyone about their experience here at FTF, Michelle's story is amazing.
Her background in figure competition at the age of 40 is inspiring and definitely something to pay attention to.  Watch for Michelle as she continues to rise in the CrossFit Community and continues to hmmer hard here at FTF
